MILF rebels attack 2 Lanao Norte towns
ILIGAN CITY (MindaNews/18 August) — Members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) today occupied for close to eight hours the towns of Kauswagan and Kolambugan in Lanao del Norte, triggering a massive evacuation of civilians to Maigo and Linamon towns and Iligan City.
Reports said the MILF occupied barangays Libertad, Lapayan and Napo of Kauswagan.
SPO2 Romeo Villacencio of Kauswagan alleged that in Lapayan, the rebels fired at, looted and burned some houses, and killed nine persons.

By 11 a.m., five bodies were transported from a funeral parlor in Kauswagan to Iligan city.
Five civilians injured in the attack were brought to the city hospital.
Former Lanao del Norte provincial councilor Chick Rizalda said that in Kolambugan the office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Sarimanok and the Holy Cross School in Kolambugan were burned. The rebels also fired at two vehicles, looted stores, fired at motorcycle drivers, and occupied the elementary school and the port, Rizalda added.

Reports reaching radio station dxDB in Malaybalay city said Fr. Reggie Quijano, parish priest of Kolambugan, could not go out of his convent due to the presence of the MILF. However, it was not clear whether the rebels were holding him hostage. But as of 1:53 p.m., Iligan City Bishop Elenito Galido sent an SMS saying "the MILF starts to withdraw. Fr. Reggie is safe. Thanks to God."
Galido also denied reports that among the hostages or casualties were priests, nuns and other church workers. But he admitted they "hid for safety.”
Meanwhile, President Arroyo condemned the attack not only as a violation of the ceasefire agreement between the government and the MILF but also as a challenge to the aspirations for peace and progress in Mindanao.
"Because of this sneaky and treacherous attack, as your commander-in-chief, I have ordered the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to defend every inch of Philippine territory against MILF forces, and immediately restore peace in the affected areas in Lanao de Norte.
"We will not tolerate — I will crush any attempt to disturb peace and development in Mindanao," she declared.
The President also said she was convening an emergency meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) this afternoon "to assess the situation in Lanao del Norte and other areas in Mindanao, and come up with concrete, firm and decisive action to defend the peace-loving people of Mindanao."
The attack came a day after suspected MILF rebels ambushed a military convoy in Barangay Ilian, Molundo, Lanao del Sur killing seven soldiers and wounding eight others. In an article posted on its website www.luwaran.com, the MILF said the ambush was carried out by "still unidentified men."
Brigadier General Hilario Atendido, chief of Joint Task Force Tabak, said the rebels withdrew at about noon.
He said the military could not enter the areas occupied by the rebels, as the latter reportedly used civilians as hostages.
Rep. Vicente Belmonte of the 1st District of Lanao del Norte condemned the attack.
He said the attack and the bombings of two hotels here on Sunday could be related to the abortive signing of the Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain between the government and the MILF.
The MOA would have been signed on August 5 in Putrajaya, Malaysia had the Supreme Court not issued a temporary restraining order the day before the scheduled signing.
Belmonte said he was planning to file a resolution seeking an amendment to the MOA but that he would now work for the scrapping of the proposed agreement.
Lanao del Norte Governor Khalid Dimaporo also spoke on radio station DXLS to condemn the attack.
A trip before the school year starts
beside the KCC mall of gensan with the earliest trip at 6:00 in the morning.
Travel time is around an hour and the fare is 60.00 and you get off at the last
stop, which is the terminal of poblacion glan, sarangani province.
>>>> a tricycle can take you to the beaches of gumasa, but you have
to be careful as motorcycle drivers will crowd on you right at the terminal and
convince you that a tricycle can’t make it there. Well, if it’s ok with you
to go with the habal-habal, then there’s no problem, but make sure you don’t
pay more than 100.00 for one trip. On the other hand, if you’re like us with
so much bags in tow, tricycle would be good. Look for meloy jugarap right at the
terminal, and he will take you to the gumasa beaches in his super-power
tricycle. He can take as much as six persons in one trip. Regular fare is 30.00
per person, but if there are only 2 or 3 of you, give him a hundred, and
you’re sure to make his day! You can also ask him to pick you up the next day
or whenever you’d wish to go back to the poblacion. Travel time by tricycle is
around 15 minutes from the poblacion to white haven resort. The road is already
concrete, with only a few hundred meters still on the rough but already ongoing
construction as of the last week of march 2008.
>>>> when you’re in gumasa, you can choose from the many white
sand beach resorts stretched just a little way down from the highway. We went to
white haven beach resort, where you can rent a tent for around 400.00 a night,
complete with beddings. Rate for open cottages are at 350.00; for close cottages
with electric fans or airconditioners, rates range from 950.00 to around
2,200.00. food would be no problem, the white haven beach resort can cater for
you at reasonable prices, just be sure to arrange in advance. Or, you can wake
up early, wait for the fishermen to make their daily rounds at the shores for
their fresh catch. You can then either let the resort kitchen cook it for you or
grill it yourselves at their public cooking area.
>>>> from white haven beach resort, you can take a stroll at the
long stretch of white sand shoreline with lots of white little crabs scampering
like in a game of patintero, a cave at the far end with freshwater dripping from
the insides, and enjoy the clear waters lapping at your feet. There are
starfishes too, an indication how clean and unabused the beach still is.
>>> not many people have discovered the white beaches of gumasa yet,
and I like it that way. It was quiet and clean and on some days, you can even
enjoy it all for yourself. On a clear day, the sunset is amazing, and you can
camp out close to the shore and sleep to the comforting lull of the waves
washing ashore.
>>> to say it was beautiful would be an understatement. Imagine
boracay and panglao island and pearl farm 20 years ago. it’s a replica of
those luxurious, lucrative beach resorts minus the noise, the trash, the crowd,
the buildings, and the cost. It’s nature at its best, with the symphony of the
simplicity and quietness of the town playing to its overall harmony.

Your best friend, your baby, your man or your lady
Put your hand way up high, we will never say bye
Mamas, daddies, sisters, brothers, friends and cousins
This is for my people’s who lost their grandmothers
Lift your head to the sky ‘cause we will never say bye
As a child there were them times
I didn’t get it but you kept me alive
I didn’t know why you didn’t show up sometimes
It’s something more than saying, "I miss you"
But when we talked too
All them grown full things separation brings
You never let me know it, you never let it show
Because you loved me and obviously
There’s so much more left to say
If you were with me today face to face
I never knew I could hurt like this
And everyday life goes on like
I wish I could talk to you for awhile
I wish I could find a way try not to cry
As time goes by
And soon as you reached a better place
Still I’ll give the whole world to see your face
And I’m bragging next to you
It feels like you gone too soon
Now the hardest thing to do is say bye bye
Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye
Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye
Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye, bye bye
And you never got the chance to see how good I’ve done
And you never got to see me back at number one
I wish that you were here to celebrate together
I wish that we could spend the holidays together
I remember when you used to tuck me in at night
With the teddy bear you gave me that I held so tight
I thought you were so strong that you can make it through whatever
It’s so hard to accept the fact you’re gone forever
I never knew I could hurt like this
And everyday life goes on like
I wish I could talk to you for awhile
I wish I could find a way try not to cry
As time goes by
And soon as you reached a better place
Still I’ll give the world to see your face
And I’m bragging next to you
It feels like you gone too soon
The hardest thing to do is say bye bye
Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye
Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye
Bye bye, bye bye, bye bye, bye bye
This is for my people’s who just lost somebody
Your best friend, your baby, your man or your lady
Put your hand way up high, we will never say bye

Babuyan Island adventure is all about dreaming a vacation after it was over. Its gives you a never-ending discovery, almost impossible to forget. The experience maybe unforgiving but truly it was a walk to remember.

Close to Davao City is Mt. Apo, the country’s highest peak and home to the monkey-eating Philippine Eagle, an endagered species, and the waling-waling, a rare ochid of exceptional beauty.
Of late, Davao has become a booming tourist destination as evidenced by the rise of leisure establishments in the region.
Davao is also the biggest cutflower producer in the country and a major exporter of tropical fruits.
A tour of the city and its outskirts will bring the visitor to Dabaw Etnica, a tiny settlement of the Mandaya Tribe; Dabaw Museum whose diaplay includes tribal artifacts and costumes; and the Taoist and Lon Wa Buddhist Temples.
Davao is also known for its exquisite beaches, there is even an old Perl Farm that has been converted into a world-class resort. These beaches are all easily accessible by banca (out-rigger boat) or land travel.

Nestled deep in the heartlands of the Cordilleras Mountains and rising to an altitude of 1525m (5000ft) are the Banaue Rice Terraces. The terraces were carved out of the mountain range over 3000 years ago by the Ifugaos, the oldest mountain tribe in the area, using only the most primitive tools. The irrigation system uses gravity to harness water from the forests 1800m (2185ft) above thus ensuring a continuous supply of crops. Measured from end to end, the terraces would stretch a total length of 22,400km (13,919 miles), enough to encircle half the globe. They are often dubbed the eighth wonder of the ancient world as their age and scale is comparable to that of the official seven wonders, of which only the Pyramids of Giza remain.

I will answer you: I am here to

Émile Zola
I have learned that…
… the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.
… when you’re in love, it shows.
… just one person saying to me, "You’ve made my day!" makes my day.
… having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.
… being kind is more important than being right.
… you should never say no to a gift from a child.
… I can always pray for someone when I don’t have the strength to help him in some other way.
… no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.
… sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.
… simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.
… life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
… we should be glad God doesn’t give us everything we ask for.
… money doesn’t buy class.
… it’s those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.
… under everyone’s hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.
… the Lord didn’t do it all in one day. What makes me think I can?
… to ignore the facts does not change the facts.
… when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.
… love, not time, heals all wounds.
… the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.
… everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.
… there’s nothing sweeter than sleeping with your babies and feeling their breath on your cheeks.
… no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.
… life is tough, but I’m tougher.
… opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.
… when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
… I wish I could have told my Dad that I love him one more time before he passed away.
… one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
… a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
… I can’t choose how I feel, but I can choose what I do about it.
… when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you’re hooked for life.
… everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.
… it is best to give advice in only two circumstances; when it is requested and when it is a life threatening situation.
… the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.
True friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.
It is taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
We are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
Regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.
Money is a lousy way of keeping score.
Sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you’re down, will be the ones to help you get back up.
Just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have.
It isn’t always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
You shouldn’t be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.
Your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don’t even know you.
Credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
You should tell people you love that you love them, as often as possible, because you never know when your last chance will be.
Until your car or home is paid off
Until you get a new car or home
Until your kids leave the house
Until you go back to school
Until you finish school
Until you clean the house
Until you organize the garage
Until you clean off your desk
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married
Until you get a divorce
Until you have kids
Until the kids go to school
Until you retire
Until summer
Until spring
Until winter
Until fall
Until you die…
There is no better time than right now to be happy.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So work like you don’t need money. Love like you’ve never been hurt, and, Dance like no one’s watching.
Don’t be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.
